Helsinki, August 28th.- The president of the Friendship Group with Cuba in the Finnish Parliament, Deputy Heli Jarvinen (green) received this morning the Charge d'Affaires a.i of the Island, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry.
During the meeting, both parties agreed on the need to continue working to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties as an essential element for the development of bilateral relations.
Rodríguez Etcheverry updated his counterpart on the new measures taken in Cuba to confront COVID 19 and on the news of the existence of a Cuban vaccine candidate "Soberana 01", which began to be applied in its phase 1 on Monday 24 of August.
The island's diplomat provided updated data on the impact of the epidemic in Cuba and on the enormous effort of the country's authorities to stop the spread of the virus, under exceptional conditions of economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
Jarvinen thanked his counterpart and invited him to hold a webinar on the subject with the Friendship group in Parliament, which in the current legislature has 11 deputies.
