President of the Green Party of Cyprus receives Cuban Ambassador.

Nicosia, September 12, 2022. - The president of the Green Party of Cyprus - Citizen Cooperation and Chairman of the Environment Committee of the Cypriot Parliament, Charalambos Theopemptou received on the morning of September 12, at the headquarters of his organization, the Cuban Ambassador, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero.

The Cuban diplomat presented his country's strategy for the protection of the environment and natural resources and the legal, scientific and practical actions implemented. As well as the fulfillment of the international commitments undertaken with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Conference on Biological Diversity and Biodiversity and the Sustainable Development Goals towards 2030. The Ambassador of the Caribbean island recalled the words of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, in which he warned that the capitalist production model would end up triggering an environmental emergency, and that today, three decades later, it is a real threat to the survival of the human species.

On his part, the president of the Green Party of Cyprus - Citizen Cooperation, Charalambos Theopemptou, referred to all the work that his organization is doing to compel citizens to greater respect for the environment and to achieve self-sustainability in food production. He recalled that when talking about sustainable development, Cuba is referred to for all it has achieved in this area.

Both sides agreed to promote partisan relations, which have the human being at the center of attention in all their affairs.

Within the framework of the dialogue and exchange of views, they also discussed ways to improve cooperation between the Environment Committee of the Cypriot Parliament and the National Assembly of Cuba. Both the Cuban diplomat and Mr. Theopemptou agreed that it was a good time to achieve exchanges to showcase the experiences in the field of environmental protection of both countries.

They also agreed to continue collaborating to exchange in greater depth on environmental issues that are of great concern to the world today, and in particular, to both islands. Alexia Sakadaki, Head of International Relations of the Green Party of Cyprus was also present at the meeting (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
