Pretoria, February 20, 2020.-The president of the Pan-African Parliament, Mr. Roger NkodoDang, gave a keynote speech on the work of that body of the African Union and its main challenges, in the Baraguá Hall of the Capitol of Havana, headquarters of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba (ANPP) as part of the program of the official visit to the Island.
At the meeting, chaired by Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly, the leader of the Pan-African Parliament offered an overview of the current problems of the African continent, as well as the objectives, challenges and perspectives of the presiding body, focused on the promotion of peace, security, attention to African peoples and their diaspora, and cooperation with other similar agencies inside and outside the area.
The vice president of the National Assembly took the opportunity to thank the support that African states have provided to Cuba in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the US government has imposed on the Island for almost 60 years.
The conference was attended by, among others, members of parliamentary friendship groups, presidents and officials of the Permanent Commissions of the ANPP, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and researchers and professors of the Center for International Policy Research and the Higher Institute of International Relations from Cuba.
