President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez referred to the results of the elections in the United States

In a dialogue with the people of Lajas, the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez referred to the results of the elections in the United States.

For us, the results of these elections are not new. It was a foreseen scenario, he said:

It was a probable scenario and we had been preparing for that scenario.

The Head of State referred to the totally asymmetrical relationship with the government of the United States, because they have imposed a blockade on us for more than sixty years, he recalled.

A embargo that in 2019 was intensified with measures of the administration that is now in the White House, and that were maintained with the current one, in other words, it is not a problem of administrations.

Two administrations of different parties have maintained the same position of hostility.

The Revolution, the country, is ready, he assured.

We do not accept interference; our country will not give up its model of socialist construction, which we have to perfect, and the country, in the midst of the most difficult circumstances, will continue, he stressed.

We have nothing against the American people, he reaffirmed.

We are ready for dialogue, on equal terms with the government of the United States.

Without impositions, with respect, and of course nothing that affects our sovereignty or our independence.

It is true that we have suffered, the president acknowledged.

The people of #Cuba have suffered a perverse and genocidal blockade, and especially in recent years we have suffered the intensification of this blockade with the implications it has had on the lives of Cubans.

The Head of State referred to the power cuts, the lack of food and medicines.

But we are convinced that with the talent of our people, with the heroism of our people, we will continue to move forward.

We will continue to move forward without fear, confident that with our own efforts, with our own talent, we can move forward, said the head of state.
