Victoria, 31st. December, 2024._ Sychelles President, Wavel Ramkalawan, congratulated Cubans on the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution and highlighted the firm will of the Cuban people to defend their freedom and sovereignty, even in the face of immense challenges, in a message addressed to his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
“These past 66 years the Cuban people have endured with remarkable fortitude in preserving their independence, dignity, and way of life despite the constraints of the economic embargo and external pressures,” said the African leader in his letter.
He further highlighted the unwavering resilience of the Cuban people as an example of their enduring spirit and as an inspiration to all nations that believe in the values of self-determination and justice.
The Head of State emphasized that throughout 47 years of bilateral relations, our nations have supported each other for the benefits of mutual growth and development, building bonds of trust, respect and collaboration.
President Ramkalawan recalled his recent visit to Havana in September 2024, which reaffirmed the deepening friendship between the two nations through fruitful exchanges and the signing of cooperation agreements in areas such as environmental protection, justice and academic-diplomatic training. “I am confident that our collaboration will continue to deepen,” he concluded.
