Press Release: Another fine levied by Trump´s government for violations of the Blockade against Cuba.

New York, 27 June 2017. The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed a fine against US insurance company American International Group (AIG) for $148,698 on June 26, owing to the alleged violation of several sanctions programs of the United States government, including the blockade against Cuba.

In this case, OFAC alleged that AIG was involved in 29 apparent violations to the blockade by providing insurance coverage to various shipments of goods to or from Cuba or related to a Cuban entity, including the processing of premiums or claims arising from such service.

The AIG insurance company is fined for the second time in less than three years. In May 2014, a penalty was imposed for the same reason when the United States government claimed that subsidiaries of the insurer in Canada violated 3,560 times the regulations against Cuba between January 2006 and March 2009.

This fine is the fourth charge imposed on companies by the government of the United States during the year 2017, for having some sort of economic, commercial or financial relationship with Cuba.

This is the third time that Donald Trump´s government levies a fine on a company for keeping business relations with Cuba. This is the second penalty imposed this month of June alone, which demonstrates once again the validity and full implementation of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
