Doha, Qatar — August 2026 — Competing in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U17 World Championship held in Doha from August 19 to 29, Cuba's youth national team concluded its participation in the group stage. Although victory eluded the team this time around, competing on this elite stage provided invaluable growth for the young prospects of Cuban volleyball.
Given the challenging circumstances facing our nation, it is deeply commendable that these young athletes were able to stand toe-to-toe with the world's most established teams in their category. Every set played offered crucial competitive lessons, highlighting the determination, discipline, and promising future of a team in the early stages of its athletic career.
The delegation enjoyed the steadfast support of Cuban residents in Qatar, who gathered at the sports venues to cheer on the team throughout the tournament. Additionally, the players and coaching staff were welcomed by the Ambassador of Cuba to Qatar, His Excellency Mr. Enrique Enríquez, who commended their effort on the court and encouraged them to use this international experience as a building block for future achievements.
