Prime Minister of Belize congratulates President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Belize, April, 24. 2018. "Yours is an island state that has impacted positively on most continent of the globe. Long may this be so and long may the bonds of friendship that have bonded our two states live on”.

This is part of the congratulatory message sent by the Prime Minister of Belize, the Right Honorable Dean Barrow, to Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez on the occasion of his recent election as President of the Councils of State and Ministers of our country.

PM Barrow also makes reference on his letter to President Diaz-Canel's speech on April 19, in which he ratified the dignity and hard work of the Cuban people in its commitment to carry out the Revolution.

Cuba and Belize have had diplomatic relations for more than 20 years characterized by cooperation and friendship. In this sister nation of Central America, a Medical Brigade has been working since the late 1990s, and some 200 young people have graduated in Cuba in different specialties.

As part of the CARICOM family, Belize has maintained a clear position in support of Cuba`s  battle against the blockade in the United Nations and other international forums ratified also by both PM  Barrow and MFA Minister Wilfred Elrington in their meetings with the Cuban authorities.
