Kingstown, January 25, 2020. Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and his entire Cabinet participated in the event held at our embassy on the occasion of the 167th anniversary of the birth of Cuba's National Hero José Martí and the 61st anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
Speaking at the moving activity, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves highlighted the role of the Cuban Revolution for our hemisphere and especially that of our Commander in Chief, recalling passages from several of his meetings and extolling the vocation of solidarity of our people and the historic leader of the Revolution.
In another part of his words, he rejected the attempts to discredit our medical collaboration, pointing out that the example of his country is a resounding lie to that campaign. He described those who promote it as hypocrites and recalled that only Cuba was capable of voluntarily sending medical personnel to fight Ebola in Africa.
Before a large group of government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, friends of the Cuban Solidarity Movement, Vincentians who graduated from our country, members of the Association of Cubans Living in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and a representation of the collaborators who work there, Cuban Ambassador José M. Leyva Ventura thanked everyone for their presence and highlighted the life and legacy of our Apostle.
In his words, he highlighted the significance of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and condemned the campaign of U.S. imperialism against our medical collaboration, pointing out the deeply humanistic and supportive character of our health care personnel, whom Fidel defined as "apostles and creators of a more humane world.
Cuban and Vincentian artists took part in the activity and entertained the audience.
