Prominent Cuban scientists are received by Iran's Minister of Health

Tehran, May 26, 2025. Cuban doctors Vicente Vérez and Yuri Valdés, directors of the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV), were received by the Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, at the headquarters of that ministry in the Iranian capital. Both relevant Cuban scientists were accompanied by the Cuban ambassador to this country, Jorge F. Lefebre Nicolás.

Both directors of the IFV are in Tehran, giving continuity to the old and successful collaboration established with the Pasteur Institute of Iran (IPI) in the biotechnology sector and the transfer of technology for the production of various vaccines for human use, highly appreciated in the Persian nation.

Minister Zafarghandi expressed gratitude to Cuban biotechnology personified in both scientists, and to the research and cooperation relationships established in this field that have allowed a greater development of Iranian biotechnology and have contributed to immunizing millions of people against various diseases throughout the extensive Iranian geography. Both parties also expressed their satisfaction with the progress of this collaboration and the support for the projects that are currently being carried out between both institutions.
