(Doha, March 24, 2025) – All Arabic and English-language newspapers in Qatar, as well as various digital media, are reporting today on the inauguration of the mural "Friends of Cuba and Qatar," repainted in its new location at the Katara Cultural Village by its creator, renowned Cuban painter Maisel López Valdés.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Katara Cultural Foundation, and Enrique Enríquez, Cuban Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
Dr. Al-Sulaiti highlighted the value of this work and the priority his country places on promoting the visual arts in public spaces to provide enriching cultural experiences for the Qatari population and visitors from around the world, as well as to highlight cultural dialogue between peoples.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude and recognition to the Katara Cultural Foundation for hosting this distinguished work of art, which reflects the cultural cooperation and ties of friendship between the two countries. This work was created by Cuban artist Maisel López, known as the Children's Painter, in October 2022, to commemorate the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It is currently in need of relocation for better preservation and public enjoyment.
