Tseri, Nicosia, Cyprus, August 13, 2026.—To keep the tradition alive and right on the date of the centenary of the birth of the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro, white roses and the lone star flag accompanied the team of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus along with friends from the Tseri municipal community to together commemorate the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
Recalling moments of his life, experiences, and portraits of his enduring legacy were, among other things, reasons that brought together several citizens of the village of Tseri in front of the mural complex that was inaugurated there in 2017, precisely to pay tribute to these two great figures of Cuban and universal history, Che and Fidel.
During the gathering, the Cuban diplomat, Rubén Pino Martínez, thanked the neighborhood friends for their presence and warm welcome, who shared stories and updated experiences of today’s Cuba, amid heartfelt and spontaneous greetings and cheers for the date that—together—we remembered with healthy pride.
Humble people, mostly retired but with a heart very close to our Cuba, on this August 13th in the Tseri community, showed off the proverbial and well-earned prestige of the common Cypriot, those who stand out for being excellent hosts and for “showing off” as uniquely hospitable residents, even when you’ve just met them.
Adding to that the fact that we collectively remember the figure and example of Fidel Castro, the day gave free rein to planning new meetings and future gatherings with the rest of the Tseri community to continue sharing moments with this unique population group, which treasures in its small square a mural with images of the Heroic Guerrilla and Fidel, those that are now about to mark a decade of safeguarding the image of Cuba and its history as an indelible and unique mark throughout the Cypriot territory.
White roses and the Cuban flag accompanied Fidel on the day of his centenary from this humble corner of the most beautiful island in the eastern Mediterranean.
