On the morning of Saturday 15th June, the renowned Cuban pianist Rolando Luna gave a master lecture for the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra at the headquarters of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra in the Lyceum of Acropolis, organised by the Cuban Embassy.
The distinguished Cuban musician, who gave a magical concert in Cyprus with the Symphony Orchestra on the 13th of June for the 30th anniversary of the Telethon, took the opportunity to give a master lecture to the young people of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Luna exchanged about the different Cuban rhythms, starting with all the basic rhythms, and ended with all the students and teachers performing with him anthological themes such as Chan Chan by Compay Segundo and La Guantanamera. It was a special moment for Cuban culture in Cyprus and for the youth symphony orchestra to be able to exchange with an internationally renowned pianist such as Rolando Luna.
The Cuban Ambassador, Ángel Gustavo Suárez Cordero thanked all the young people present and invited them to follow the richness of Cuban music and its sonority. At the same time he committed himself to future collaborations.
Similarly, Yiorgos Kontouris, conductor of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, extended an invitation to Rolando Luna to share the stage next year 2025 with the young promises of the country.
