Representatives of the Embassy of Cuba in Washington, D.C., met with leaders and members of the National Nurses United (NNU) union during their working visit to the city of San Francisco.
The meeting focused on the impact of the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba and the challenges it poses to the Cuban healthcare system. Participants also discussed the consequences of the Executive Order issued by the United States on January 29, 2026, which has affected Cuba's ability to acquire the medical supplies and technologies needed to provide healthcare services to the population.
National Nurses United has supported Global Health Partners and contributed to the shipment of medicines, medical equipment, and surgical supplies to Cuba. Most recently, the organization held a press conference in Washington, D.C., calling for an end to the blockade on oil supplies to Cuba and denouncing the humanitarian impact of the coercive measures imposed against the Island.
