Since the announcement of the travel regulations to and from Cuba, a measure adopted by the Cuban authorities as part of the national plan to prevent and combat COVID-19, more than two thousand Cubans have returned to the national territory, by air or sea, since last March 20th, from a dozen countries, including Germany, Angola, Barbados, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Italy, Nicaragua, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Equatorial Guinea.
These flights for the return of Cuban citizens and foreigners residing in the island have been organized between the Cuban competent authorities and their counterparts in each of the countries involved, in strict compliance with the internationally established norms.
Since the beginning of the spread of the pandemic, Cuban Consulates have offered appropriate information to Cuban nationals abroad on the evolution of the disease in the island and the consular procedures and formalities. Likewise, the Cuban authorities keep a continuous follow-up of the situation of our fellow country men and women stranded in various countries, while efforts are being made for their return to the country, to the extent possible.
In addition, the actions of Cuban residents abroad and members of the solidarity organizations with Cuba are commendable, who have supplied food, medications and have offered cheap accommodation for those Cuban citizens who are waiting to return to our national territory.
