Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Cuban Embassy in the Caribbean nation hosted a heartfelt tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the ninth anniversary of his passing.
With the presence of representatives of the Cuba Friendship Association, Cuban residents, and other members of the Cuban state mission in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Fidel's revolutionary work and the relevance of his legacy in facing the current challenges of Cuba and the region were remembered.
Ambassador Giuvel Orozco Ortega referred to Fidel Castro's significance not only in the national context but also in the defense of peoples, especially the Palestinian people, the protection of the environment, the fight against poverty, the unequal development of de countries, the defense of peace, and against the aggressive policy of the United States toward Cuba.
The Cuban diplomat also informed those present about the statements made that morning by the Cuban Foreign Minister on the presence of the United States in the Caribbean and its threat to the region, denouncing the military escalation against Venezuela and appealing to the common sense, solidarity, spirit of peace, and ethics of the international community.
For their part, the Cuban doctors referred to the guidance of Fidel, the driving force behind Cuban cooperation in health matters and founder of the International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics “Henry Reeve”.
