Cuba's scientific community today endorsed the Family Code, which has a humanist and inclusive character, and will be submitted to popular vote next Sunday.
Inclusive, modern, comprehensive and based on affection are characteristics of the new Code of Cuban Families.
Once again, Cuba will take a revolutionary, historic and unprecedented step.
This new law protects all family environments and the future of our nation’ underlines a message from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) on the social network Twitter.
The institution showed images on the network of its grantees in Russia, exercising their right to vote last Sunday, as well as their colleagues in China and members of its state mission in Spain.
The Finlay Vaccine Institute joined the support of the code -widely debated in Cuba-. The new Code protects children and teenagers, vulnerable people, the elderly and the disabled.
We vote yes to love and affection’, expresses the message of the scientific entity. The experts of the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM) chose an idea of the renowned Cuban psychologist Patricia Ares to show their support to the document already considered here as very advanced and historical.
We want to leave a world for the new generations where families are not spaces of oppression and subjugation, but the place par excellence where full dignity, comprehensive development of its members and well-being are guaranteed’, wrote the scientists in the network of networks.
For its part, the Immunoassay Center called on the people to vote Yes, so that the document may be definitively approved.
The Family Code, which will be submitted to popular vote for its entry into force, contains in its articles three specific chapters dedicated to the protection of minors, where the rights of these in the family environment are regulated and their best interest is established as a principle that regulates the norm.
In particular, Article 5, paragraph g, establishes the right of children to grow up in an environment free of violence and to be protected against any type of discrimination, abuse, negligence, prejudice or exploitation.
The text establishes the figure of related fathers and mothers, who are the spouses or common-law partners who live with the person in charge of the custody and care of the child or adolescent, as a consequence of the formation of reconstituted families.
