Screening of the documentary Cuba After Castro in Canberra reaffirms Australian solidarity and denounces the tightening of the blockade against Cuba

Canberra, June 29, 2026. In a context marked by the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, the Australian solidarity community once again expressed its support for the Cuban people with the screening of the documentary “Cuba After Castro” at the Australian Education Union ACT Branch. The event, organized by the Canberra branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), is part of a national series of exhibitions that took place during June and will continue in July in various cities across the country. This series is part of a sustained effort to promote an informed understanding of the Cuban reality and denounce the growing external pressures facing the island.

Officials from the Cuban Embassy in Australia participated in the event, which also served as a forum for discussion and reflection on the current situation in Cuba, given the unprecedented tightening of the blockade and the constant threats of military aggression.

The event became a platform to denounce the intensification of the United States' hostile policy against Cuba and reaffirmed the commitment of Australian solidarity sectors to the defense of the sovereignty and the right to development of the Cuban people.

The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Australia welcomes this valuable initiative and recognizes the efforts of those who continue to support the Cuban people through concrete actions of friendship and solidarity.
