Yesterday, 4th June 2024, the closing of the second edition of the Iberoamerican Film Festival in Cyprus was celebrated with the collaboration between the Iberoamerican Embassies (Brazil, Cuba, Portugal, Peru and Spain), the Cervantes and Camoes Institutes and the Association of Friends of Cinema, this year inaugurated by the Embassy of Brazil.
In the auditorium of the Cine Studio of the University of Nicosia, Cuba closed the second edition of the Festival with the film "Habanastation" (2011).
The Festival was attended by the general public, several Ambassadors and formal guests. During the short closing ceremony the Cuban Ambassador, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero thanked the audience and also the University of Nicosia and in particular its Rector, Dr. Philippos Pouyioutas for allowing to build this cultural bridge. The Rector of the University expressed his readiness for future cultural events.
This important initiative opens the way for a cultural exchange between Cyprus and the Ibero-American countries. Through cinema, the public of Cyprus can get to know a little more about the culture of each country and bring them a little closer to the Ibero-American world (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
