Kingstown, May 21. Organized by the Bolivarian University of Venezuela, the Free Bolivar-Martí Chair and the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the II International Event "Decolonial Voices and Peoples in Resistance" was held.
The event was attended, in the form of a videoconference, by academics, political scientists, scholars and diplomats, who made various interventions to address the issue and its repercussions in times when the pandemic of Covid 19 has reflected with crudeness, the difference between the State and the market, between the projects of social justice, equity and rights for all and those who try to commodify everything, imposing a wild neoliberalism.
In his words, the Cuban Ambassador, José Manuel Leyva Ventura, condemned the US blockade against our country, which has worsened in the midst of the pandemic. He also denounced the terrorist act committed against our diplomatic headquarters in Washington and the complicit silence of the US government more than twenty days after the shots were fired at our embassy.
In another part of his speech, he unmasked the attempts by high-ranking American officials and the Secretary General of the discredited OAS to discredit the beautiful and supportive work of our internationalist health brigades. The Cuban diplomat recounted the history of Cuban medical collaboration and what it has meant to save millions of human beings in more than 160 nations over six decades.
Finally, he pointed out that at this moment more than 2,300 specialists distributed in 26 Medical Brigades are rendering their services in 24 countries, once again demonstrating the solidary and humanist lineage of our Revolution and its fidelity to the imperishable legacy of Martí and Fidel.
