Canberra, June 17, 2019. - Members of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society in Canberra organized on Saturday, June 15, an event of solidarity with the Cuban people which main objective was to raise funds for the pediatric hospital of Las Tunas province.
In the activity, which is traditionally held twice a year, a sample of Cuban music was offered to the audience, as well as the opportunity to taste some of the most representative dishes of the island's cuisine and cocktails.
A local dance workshop comprising Latinos and Australians, played a Rueda de Casino, in what was a demonstration of the attractiveness of Cuban culture in Australian lands.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, thanked the long-standing support of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Australia, in particular the activism of these groups for the lifting of the blockade maintained by the United States government against the island since 1962.
