Dublin, June 23, 2026. With the presence of numerous representatives of solidarity movements with the Cuban Revolution, and on the occasion of the visit to Dublin of Elizabeth Ribalta, an official from the European Directorate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, a solidarity event with Cuba was held at the embassy to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Commander-in-Chief.
Presided over by the Cuban ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, the event also included the participation of Daniel Lambert, manager of the Irish band Kneecap, who shared his experiences in Cuba during his visit as part of the “Our America Convoy.”
In her remarks, Elizabeth explained the difficult situation facing Cubans, victims of the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which since January has been reinforced with a virtual energy embargo that impedes the country's functioning and causes severe consequences in all aspects of Cuban socio-economic life. She also referred to how Cuba is resisting, doing everything within its power to defend the achievements of the Revolution, while preparing to defend the country against threats of military aggression. In her speech, she thanked the participants for their solidarity and highlighted Ireland's presence as part of the "Our America" convoy.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat presented a PowerPoint presentation denouncing U.S. pressure against Cuba, particularly the threats of military invasion. It also included the main donations sent to Cuba by Irish supporters. As part of the presentation, videos and photos of the performance in Havana by the well-known Irish group "Kneecap" were shown. It concluded with the popular Cuban song "Cuba qué Linda es Cuba" and images of Fidel Castro.
