Nicosia, January 11, 2023. The twitter account of the World Food Program in Cuba sent a message thanking "the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for its contribution of 20 thousand euros that will be destined to the purchase of food, as part of the response actions #WFP_Cuba for the damages of #HurricaneIAN in Pinar del Rio".
The posted thread explained that "Cyprus' donation to #WFP_Cuba directly benefits children, girls, and adults over 65 years old from Pinar del Rio, who are in vulnerable conditions." And finally he pointed out that "this contribution is in addition to the current resources of #WFP to continue the food assistance to vulnerable groups initiated immediately after Hurricane IAN passed through Cuban territory, with a monthly module of rice, beans or peas and oil".
From our Embassy we would like to thank the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for the solidarity to complement the actions of #WPF_Cuba to support the recovery from the effects of Hurricane Ian in Pinar del Rio (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
