South Africa demands at the UN the removal of Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List

Pretoria, 13 June 2024 - South Africa rejected the full application of the Helms-Burton Act against Cuba and called for the removal of the island from the spurious and arbitrary State Sponsors of Terrorism List this past Thursday at the United Nations General Assembly. South Africa's representative called it a "unfounded designation".

He also stressed that Cuba's presence on this list and the authorisation to US citizens to file lawsuits under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act hinders Cuba's economic and commercial relations with third countries.
