Progressive organizations with Cuba and Palestine
The message of solidarity with Cuba was heard again from the South African city of Johannesburg. Last 23 March, as part of the 14th Anti-Apartheid Israeli Week, several progressive organizations with Cuba and Palestine expressed their support for the causes of these two peoples.
Speaking at the event, Ivan Ferrer, First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, said that his country would always be on the side of the cause of liberation of the Palestinian people and thanked the South African people for being steadfast in their solidarity with Cuba in the struggle for the lifting of the blockade that the United States government maintains against the Island.

This space of solidarity was also the scene to cmmemorate the battle of Cuito Cuanavale on its 30th anniversary. Solly Mapaila, First Deputy Secretary general of the South African Communist Party, said that it was a decisive battle for the overthrow of Apartheid and recalled the leadership of Fidel Castro during all the days of the confrontation, personally directing the actions.
