Pretoria, September 18, 2022.- This Sunday, Cubans serving diplomatic and official missions in South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini exercised their right to vote in the Referendum on the new Family Code. On the five continents, more than a thousand polling stations were set up, coordinated by 123 special councils.
The 23 established polling stations in South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini opened around seven in the morning with the singing of the National Anthem, the presentation of the polling station, the sealing of the ballot box and the guarantees in booths to exercise the direct and secret vote.
These temporary entities closed their doors at seven at night, with the opening of the ballot boxes before witnesses, and the counting of the votes by the members of the electoral tables, until the final results were posted in a visible place.
Governed by the Cuban National Electoral Council, the success of the elections abroad was guaranteed, and a dynamic test was previously carried out (September 11) to finalize all the logistics for this exercise, including the review of the lists.
