Havana, May 2, 2023 - The Friends of Cuba Society in South Africa (FOCUS) was present at the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held on Tuesday at the Havana Convention Center. The South African delegation also included several members of COSATU and NUM.
The South African brothers and sisters met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and the Secretary General of the Cuban Central Workers Union, Ulises Guilarte. They also participated in several activities organised by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
More than a thousand foreign delegates and about 200 nationals participated in the meeting, whom reaffirmed their commitment to the island against the blockade imposed by the United States on the Cuban people more than 60 years ago.
