Pretoria, March 5, 2023.- The Ambassador of Cuba to South Africa, Enrique Orta González, accompanied by officials and workers of the Embassy, participated in the activity of remembrance and tribute to Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, at the Venezuelan Embassy in South Africa.
Also in attendance were Ronnie Kasrils, a prominent leader of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Obed Bapela, an MP and member of the African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Council, as well as SACP representatives from Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, Free State, Kwazulu Natal and Limpopo, members of COSATU and its affiliated unions such as the National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) and colleagues from the diplomatic corps accredited to South Africa.
From the presentation of the documentary "Chávez, my friend" by the American film director and producer Oliver Stone, Cuban, Venezuelan and South African comrades remembered one of the greatest men in Latin American and world history.
The central words were given by the Cuban Ambassador, who highlighted the importance and vital need to defend Chávez's liberating, Latin Americanist, humanist and anti-imperialist legacy.
