South African Communist Party reaffirms its unwavering support for Cuba

Johannesburg, November 13, 2025.- The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, held a fruitful working meeting with Solly Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP).

In a comradeship environment, both parties recognized the strength of inter-party relations between Cuba and South Africa, while also highlighting the recent visit to Cuba by a party delegation, where important agreements were made for the deepening and expansions of the bilateral ties.

The General Secretary reaffirmed the support of his organization to the Cuban people, especially in the wake of hurricane Melissa, reassuring Cuba can count with its African brothers and sisters. Ambassador Pinelo, on the other hand, thanked the unwavering support of the SACP and the South African people in general in favour of lifting the US blockade against Cuba, particularly in the recently concluded vote at UNGA of the Cuban resolution against the blockade.

This meeting is yet another example of the solid and long-standing relations between our parties and it strengthens solidarity between both organizations.

Bryan Betancourt Brito, Second Secretary of the Embassy, was in attendance, as well as members from the Central Committee of the SACP.
