Johannesburg, January 06, 2025. The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Solly Mapaila, condemned the blockade against Cuba and demanded that the island be removed from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism, during the organization's tribute to communist leader Joe Slovo.
Mapaila expressed that only the United States could consider Cuba a terrorist country, "something unthinkable," he stressed. He also called on the U.S. government to respect the resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, where the majority of member states has voted in favor of lifting the blockade and imperialist aggressions against the Caribbean nation.
In the emotional speech, the politician also demanded the withdrawal of the United States from the Guantanamo Naval Base, which it has illegally occupied for more than 100 years.
