South African president condemns US blockade against Cuba at UNGA

Pretoria, 24 September 2025. - On the first day of the High-Level Segment of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, condemned the US blockade against Cuba and demanded an end to the unilateral sanctions, which have caused immense damage to the Cuban people.

"(...) the economic blockade against Cuba, which has caused untold damage to the country's economy over the years. This unjust blockade must be lifted, and we hope that this will happen sooner rather than later," said the South African leader.

The government and people of Cuba deeply appreciate the solidarity of the rainbow nation, especially in these complex times.
