The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) sent a container with humanitarian aid to Cuba.
After the Association of Solidarity with Cuba in the country, (FOCUS) began efforts to send containers with aid to our country amid the difficult conditions imposed by the blockade, intensified in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) to whom we have excellent relations of solidarity, has made hygiene and personal use materials available to the Cuban people for the Ministry of Public Health.
Long-standing and well known is the relationship of this Union with the Cuban people. Through various statements, they have expressed their members' condemnation of the unjust blockade imposed by the United States government on Cuba and that affects the Cuban people.
The SADTU National Executive Committee last September, reiterated the Union's determination to continue supporting the Cuban people against the blockade of the United States of America. The shipment of this container is the palpable sign of the most genuine solidarity between the Cuban and South African peoples.
We deeply appreciate this gesture of solidarity, which is more important and symbolic at this time in which the Cuban people are subjected to attacks and destabilizing attempts.
