Canberra, 28 June, 2023. The Southern Cross Brigade 40th Anniversary will run from 28 December 2023 until 20 January 2024 (inclusive), a total of 24 days. Highlights include:
· 28 December 2023 until 2 January 2024 - Stay at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp (the traditional home of solidarity brigades) for a range of educational and other activities.
· 1 January 2024 - Attend the Gala of the National Ballet of Cuba (Havana) dedicated to the anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
· 2 January 2024 until 6 January 2024 - Stay at the Korimakao sociocultural (art) project. A highlight of last year's program, this stay includes engaging exchanges with students from the project and local communities. The stay will also include a visit to the Bay of Pigs Museum.
· Trips to Cienfuegos and Santa Clara (Che Guevara Memorial) for exchanges with environmental projects, agricultural concerns and other social programs.
· 12 January 2024 until 16 January 2024 - A visit to the Island of Youth. Travel via boat from Havana to exchange with a range of important local projects and to learn about the unique history of the island. Activities will include work with environmental projects, visits to local museums (including the "model prison", scene of Fidel's "History will absolve me" speech), visits to local beaches and much more!
The program will reflect on the four decades of solidarity exchanges between Australia, New Zealand and Cuba via the Brigade. This, in addition to the incredible hospitality you can expect during any trip to Cuba, is sure to make the experience unforgettable.

Full payment (following the deposit) for the Brigade will be made online via a link provided by Amistur. Registrants will be updated once this link is available for use.
