Canberra, 5 May, 2023. This afternoon, the Cuban Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia together with members of the Cuban Embassy in this capital participated in the celebration of the Spanish Language Day, held at the National Library of Australia.
The colourful event was attended by Heads of Missions of the 15 Spanish-speaking countries accredited in Australia and several participants of the Australian intelligentsia. Colourful banners were displayed on each countries and a guessing contest was also held, in which each country was the protagonist.
The director of the Cervantes Institute in Australia, Coral Martinez, as well as the Head of the Spanish Study Program at the Australian National University, Catherine Travis were among the speakers
As part of the event, students from the Australian National University made posters related to each countries. In the case of Cuba, Ayva Barney was the winner. She was a student who presented a paper on the May Day parade in our country.
