Roseau, Dominica, March 11, 2022. Last night, the State Mission of Cuba in Dominica concluded the consultation process of Code of Family Project. The two electoral colleges, belonging to the Electoral Commission of Circumscription No. 11 constituted in the country, held their consultation meetings on March 8 and 10, 2022.
College No 1 is located in Roseau and has 60 voters, including officials from the Cuban Embassy, health collaborators located in the capital and in the districts of Gran Bay, La Plane, Castel Bruce and San Joseph, as well as as the construction collaborators belonging to the UNECA company. In the case of College No 2, it is located in Portsmouth and its 34 voters are made up of health collaborators located in that city, the second most important in the country and in the town of Marigot. The two meetings were held with 100 percent attendance by their constituents, who made a considerable number of proposals.
The draft Code of Family constitutes an inclusive text, which recognizes all types of families that exist in Cuba and the problems associated with their development. It is emancipator and solves problems that exist at a social level in the country. This consultation process is an example of the participatory democracy that exists in Cuba, where the main laws that govern the lives of Cubans are submitted to the consideration of all.
