Cuba is a country of peace and friendship. It poses no threat to any nation. We defend the existence of our homeland, our independence and sovereignty, with the same determination with which we practice solidarity with other peoples of the world.
Today is a special day; we celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of Cuban Independence, José Martí, and we do so in the centennial year of Fidel, the Commander-in-Chief, faithful continuator of his life and work.
The Cuban people have the right to live without a blockade, without Cuba unfairly appearing on lists that only serve to justify hostility.
There is even talk of imposing an energy blockade, a criminal act against a noble and courageous people. Cuba must resolve its own problems on its own.
If, against all sense of justice and respect for the international community, which demonstrates its rejection of the blockade every year, the absurdity of aggression against our country were to prevail, we Cubans residing in Ireland will not hesitate to defend the sacred homeland of Martí and Fidel.
