The Cuba-St. Vincent and the Grenadines Friendship Society strongly rejects the re-inclusion of Cuba on the arbitrary and bogus List of States Sponsors of Terrorism, a decision that was recently taken by the new US president, Donald Trump and something our organization warned that could happen again at any time.
As we have stated before, this is an arrogant, baseless and vindictive act of aggression by the US government against the Cuban people.
This decision shows, once again, the cruelty of these and so many other measures of siege and suffocation, which are applied against Cuba for the purpose of domination and destruction.
Former President Joe Biden’s decision on removing Cuba from the List implied a public and official recognition that Cuba is not a state sponsoring of terrorism, and it is a falsehood perpetrated – opportunistically - at the whims and fancies of the “deep state” and neo-conservatives in Washington to maintain its illegitimate and unilateral instrument of economic coercion intended to punish Cuba. People with good conscience know that this designation is nothing but a farce and is not a tool for fighting terrorism.
We take this opportunity to call for the lifting of the criminal and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
The blockade continues to harm the lives of the Cuban families and continues to be the main obstacle for the full normalization of the bilateral relations between Cuba and the US.
The re-inclusion of Cuba on the List of States Sponsors of Terrorism will not divert, detract or deter Cuba from its efforts to build socialism and to continue the struggle for the preservation of its sovereignty and independence.
Cuba is not alone! It has a large group of friends all over the world.
The Cuba-SVG Friendship Society stands firmly in solidarity with Cuba and expresses its unbroken commitment and support for the Cuban Revolution.
