Successful National Meeting of Cuban Residents in South Africa

On the morning of this November 13, the Annual Meeting of Cuban Residents in the country took place virtually.

Together with officials from the Cuban Embassy, they debated various topics of interest, among which the work of the Consulate with its nationals, the possibility of improving, strengthening and regularizing the meetings, etc.

Extensive information was provided on the possibilities of foreign investment in our country, the bilateral relations between both nations, the current situation in Cuba, the confrontation with the pandemic and the new measures to mitigate its effects. Likewise, there was talk of the hardening of the measures and sanctions imposed by the criminal blockade of the United States government for more than 60 years on Cuba.

The space also served to update our nationals about the new economic and migratory measures that will take place in Cuba from November 15, with the opening of the borders for tourism and the beginning of the school year, which led to the debate by some of the participants.

The Embassy Charge d'Affaires, Rebeca Hernández, in the conclusions of the meeting thanked the Board of Directors of the Association of Cuban Residents in South Africa, and all its members for the support provided to the Cuban people during several years in the fight against the blockade , for the solidarity shown with the Cuban people and mainly for the donation made by the Association, which contributed to the successful implementation of the massive vaccination campaign of the Cuban population.

With the decision to continue holding these meetings in a systematic way, and the support for the words of condemnation of the blockade and the interventionist actions of US government that orchestrates, finances and trains a campaign against Cuba in social networks, which causes disunity and destabilization in Cuba, pronounced by the Charge d'Affaires, ended this national meeting.
