Cuba's vibrant cultural heritage shone with splendour at the Limassol Carnival on Sunday 17 March, thanks to the participation of the "Cultura Cubana" team, composed of more than 200 enthusiastic people. Organised by the Cuban Embassy, this event marked a historic milestone in the presence of Cuban culture in Cyprus, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees.
With pride and enthusiasm, the Cuban Embassy immersed itself in the festivities of the Limassol Carnival, bringing with it the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean island. From infectious music to colourful costumes, cigars and mojitos, visitors were transported to the streets of Havana, where Cuban hospitality was felt in every interaction.
Two impressive floats stood out from the crowds, each representing a unique aspect of Cuban culture. The first, inspired by the legendary Tropicana cabaret, dazzled with its colours and vitality. The second float, dedicated to children, honoured future generations as heirs to the Cuban cultural tradition, radiating joy and hope.
"The participation of the Cuban Embassy in the Limassol Carnival represents a historic moment of cultural exchange and unity," said the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero as he greeted the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides. "It is an honour for us to share our culture with the people of Cyprus and to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our nations".
For the first time, the Cuban Embassy organised participation in the carnival, demonstrating its commitment to promoting Cuban culture and promoting tourism on the international scene. The overwhelming success of this initiative paves the way for future events that continue to celebrate diversity and connection between nations.
The presence of the "Cultura Cubana" team at the Limassol Carnival was not only a testament to Cuba's cultural richness, but also a reminder of the ability of music, art and celebration to bring people together, transcending borders and differences and an invitation to Cypriots to visit CubaUnica.
