Summit in Chile supports removing Cuba from the list of terrorist countries.

The Cuban delegation to the Summit for Democracy and Human Rights, which is being held today in Chile, expressed its gratitude for the support to the campaign to remove its country from the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

"In all the working commissions in which we participate there has been support for the initiative to collect one million signatures and demand that the current U.S. government exclude Cuba from that spurious list and eliminate the blockade," said Gertrudis Simón.

In declarations to Prensa Latina, the head of the International Relations Department of the Cuban Workers' Central Union (CTC) said that on the stages of the summit there are banners, videos, proclamations and announcements about the campaign Cuba Lives and Resists!

In addition, there is support for the demand for the closure of the naval base maintained by the United States in illegally occupied territory in the province of Guantanamo, said the also coordinator of the Cuban chapter of the social movements.

The delegation participated in the Dilemmas of Humanity Conference, organized by Alba Movements, one of the events that are part of the summit in the Recoleta district of the Chilean capital.

The CTC, the Federation of Cuban Women, Casa de las Americas, the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, the Martin Luther King Center and the Cuban chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity are represented there.

José Ernesto Novaez, coordinator of the latter organization, considered very important the effort to gather here 200 politicians, social leaders and activists from Latin America, first to honor the memory of President Salvador Allende 50 years after the coup d'état, and to maintain the premise of neither forgiving nor forgetting. And secondly, to create spaces for articulation and debate on various topics, such as the construction of socialism, the new world order, international geopolitics, communication, the Brics group, among others.

The participants in the event paid homage to Allende in front of the statue erected in his honor in the Plaza de la Constitución.

The summit will last until September 9 and also includes the International Book Fair dedicated to memory and human rights, the academic congress "Validity and Lessons of the Popular Unity Project" and an international political seminar.
