Sydney, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) The famous Sydney Opera House will be filled today with Cuban music, in a concert organized by Artists for Peace in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba, which promises to be unparalleled.
This is reflected in the invitation to participate in this gala, which will offer “an unforgettable night with captivating melodies and contagious rhythms that will make your heart dance” and allow attendees to discover the spirit of Cuba.
Cuban music - described by the organizers - is a world of rhythm, soul, and innovation, shaped by iconic figures such as Miguel Matamoros, Ernesto Lecuona, Compay Segundo, and other masters.
Matamoros, creator of the famous Cuban son, revolutionized his country's music with timeless pieces such as “Lágrimas Negras”, which fuses African and Spanish influences in an irresistible sound, while Lecuona blended classical music with Cuban rhythms in masterpieces such as “Malagueña”.
The text also highlights Compay Segundo as a master of Cuban son who revitalized the genre worldwide through the Buena Vista Social Club, with classics such as the internationally known “Chan Chan”.
“These legends, with their pioneering works, molded Cuban music into a universal language of passion, energy, and feeling, which still resonates today,” he emphasizes.
According to the program released, the concert will feature soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal, who will be accompanied by Karella Mitchell (cello), Cheryl Oxley (piano), and Jess Ciampa on percussion.
