Helsinki, January 27, 2024.- In the context of the tributes to the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, regarding the 171st Anniversary of his Birth, the Cuban ambassador, Beatriz Parra González, offered a conference on the history of the Island Caribbean to students of the IB Program at the SYK pre-university school, in Helsinki.
During the exchange of almost two hours, the diplomat referred to the main moments in the history of Cuba, highlighting the work of the Apostle of the Revolution and the historical reasons that make the country defend its sovereignty. Likewise, parra signified the important contribution of José Martí to Latin American and universal literature, inviting students to approach his copious work.
Among the topics discussed with the young students was the impact of the US embargo, the achievements of Cuban biotechnology with the obtaining of anti-covid vaccines, the results of recent democratic processes, such as the constitutional Referendum and the approval of the Family Code, with the protection of minorities and all types of families, as well as the policies outlined on the Island regarding gender equality.
