Just by wielding the universal consensus that, in the United Nations tribune, and for three decades, has expressed the absolute rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba, the new voices that constantly add to that demand would seem to defend a reason that has become a truism.
However, so great is the injustice, and so colossal the genocide, that every day more and more people are raising a flag against the hostile and anachronistic policy of the largest empire on the planet.
The international rejection of this aggression is today "a principle in defense of all the peoples of the Earth", affirmed, in an interview with Prensa Latina, the former Uruguayan president, José Pepe Mujica.
He pointed out that "Cuba is an expression, to the nth degree, of a barbaric policy practiced by developed powers against third countries, for ideological reasons".
Mujica revealed that the practice of the economic blockade is a bastard resource in international politics, and that it should be banished. "It has served no other purpose than to make people suffer needs, and it is an abuse of arrogance", he added.
Regarding the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral list of State sponsors of terrorism, he maintained that it is a "hoax". On the contrary -he emphasized- Cuba is a victim of terrorism. Washington maintains in this regard the language of the Cold War, which today makes no sense whatsoever. It is a measure that makes the siege against the Antillean country more lethal and closes the doors to international trade, finances and investments, said the former Uruguayan governor.
He concluded that the punishments imposed on the Caribbean country harm, in turn, a part of the U.S. society.
On the other hand, members of the Sri Lankan Parliament also demanded the end of this hostile policy, and declared their support to the resolution that the Island will present to the UN General Assembly.
The European Forum of Left, Green and Progressive Forces condemned the extraterritorial nature of the blockade and demanded its elimination.
There was also news of a new caravan through several streets of the city of Roseau, led by members of the Dominican-Cuba Friendship Association, together with other solidarity organizations that reaffirmed their support for the largest of the Antilles.
