They exchange in Belize on areas of cooperation on climate change.

Belmopan, October 18, 2024.- The Minister of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, Orlando Habet and VM Kendrick Williams received a delegation from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba (CITMA), as part of the bilateral collaboration on climate change.


Fruitful work exchanges were developed with directors and specialists of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, authorities of the regions of Dangriga and Placencia; the National Coordinator of NEMO, Daniel Méndez and with the executive director of the Caribbean Community Center for Climate Change (known as 5C), Dr. Colin Young.

In the meetings, common areas of collaboration were identified in climate change studies, ecosystem restoration and other related topics, which give continuity to the collaborative projects initiated between the CITMA Investment Company GAMMA S.A. with Belizean institutions.  

The Cuban delegation was made up of María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, Ambassador of Cuba in Belize; Adrián Gómez Armenteros, General Director of the Company Inversiones GAMMA S.A; Leonel Peña Fuentes, Director of the Coastal Engineering Division of this company and Pedro Julio Ruiz Hernández, official of the Directorate of International Relations of CITMA.
