Kingstown, August 14. The Cuban Embassy in St. Vincent and the Grenadines hosted a tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of his birth. The simple and moving activity was attended by members of the Cuban Solidarity Movement in the Caribbean island and Venezuelan diplomatic brothers accredited to the country.
Renwick Rose, leader of the movement, in his words, praised the figure of the Cuban revolutionary leader, highlighting his internationalism and anti-imperialism. In the same sense, he recalled with emotion Fidel's closeness to the Caribbean and all the help he provided throughout the years of revolution, pointing out that: "the world and the Caribbean peoples owe much to the contribution of Fidel Castro Ruz, we can recognize it today and commit ourselves to ensure that the memory of his perennial contribution lasts".
In another part of his words, he condemned the hostile policy and the blockade of the United States against Cuba and reiterated the support of the Solidarity with Cuba Movement in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade.
The Cuban Ambassador, José M. Leyva Ventura, in his words highlighted the enduring work of Fidel and the commitment of the Cuban people and millions of human beings in the world to be faithful to that legacy. He also thanked the solidarity of the brotherly Vincentian people and government, describing the bonds of friendship between our peoples and governments as close.
During the ceremony, the Chief of the Venezuelan Diplomatic Mission, comrade Francisco Pérez Santana, took the floor and conveyed a message of solidarity with Cuba, and Dr. Nelson Díaz Lobo, Chief of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who explained the work carried out here by our health professionals and once again expressed his willingness to continue helping this people.
