Ireland, October 9, 2017. With an event called "Che abú Festival" during the days 6 to 8 of October, a heartfelt tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara took place in Ardara, County Donegal.
The event was organized by Cuba Support Group and the Cuban Embassy in Ireland and was attended by independent deputies Thomas Pringle, Maureen O'Sullivan and Catherine Connolly, among others.
Discussions were organized on the figure of Che, his economic thinking, with the participation of Dr. Helen Yaffe, British university professor, author of the book "Che Guevara, the economy of the Revolution; the sustainability of agriculture by Irish architect and university professor Simon Mc Guinness; the women's struggle with a panel that included the deputies O'Sullivan and Connolly, among others, and took place an intervention of the Counselor Ana Rosa Rojas.
The event was inaugurated by Congressman Thomas Pringle and Ambassador Hermes Herrera, who in addition to referring to the figure of the Heroic Guerrilla, paid tribute to the historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz and referred to the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba imposed arbitrarily by the USA.
During the speeches were emphasized the validity of Che's thinking in the Cuban Revolution and expressed feelings of admiration and affection towards the great figure of the revolutionary of universal stature.
The closing of the event took place in the typical Irish town of Glencolmcille, nestled in an area where Irish native language is spoken. (CUBAMINREX-EMBACUBA IRELAND).
