Tribute to Fidel in Zambia.
Lusaka, December 4th, 2023. On the day of tributes for the 7th Anniversary of the physical disappearance of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba, the Friendship Association, diplomats from Namibia, Mozambique, Russia, South Africa, Algeria, Palestine Tanzania, university students and a Cuban resident met at the Cuban Embassy in Lusaka to pay tribute to the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution.
During the activity the documentary “Fidel is Fidel”, by Cuban director Roberto Chile, was shown. At the end there was a discussion about Fidel Castro where the Cuban ambassador Marileydis Dueñas Morales; Dr. Katongo Bwalya representing the Zambian graduates in Cuba; several members of the Zambian Parliament led by Jamba Machila; South African Ambassadors H.E. Mr. G. N. Twala; Russia H.E. Azim Yarakhmedov; Tanzania H.E. Lt. Gen. Mathew Edward Mkingule; and Palestine. H.E. Walid Hasan evoked Fidel's legacy, his friendship with leaders and various peoples of the world, when referring to his imperishable work and leadership in the world.
The President of the United National Independence Party (UNIP), Rt. Rev. Dr., Trevor Selwyn Mwamba, also sent a profound message remembering Fidel Castro, highlighting the fraternal ties and his deep friendship with the Father of the Independence of Zambia, and first president of that country, Kenneth Kaunda.
Those attending the tribute agreed that it was a simple but magnificent event to honor the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution and reaffirmed that the commitment to keep his ideas alive is the best way to honor his work.
