Tribute to José Martí in South Africa

Pretoria, January 28, 2019.-  Members of the Embassy of Cuba, members of the collaborative missions and Cubans residents in South Africa, gathered to pay tribute to the National Hero of Cuba, in the context of the 166th anniversary of his birth.

During the act of remembrance, audiovisuals were projected on the life and work of Martí and several works and passages that reflect his revolutionary trajectory were commented. Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, highlighted important elements of Martí's thought that are still valid, particularly his pro-independence and anti-imperialist thinking.

The act was enlivened, in addition, with the reading of Martian poems and a wreath was deposited before the tree and the plaque in memory of the Apostle that are in the headquarters of the diplomatic Mission.

Likewise, a martial seat was inaugurated with works by and about the National Hero of Cuba, in English and Spanish.
