Victoria, October 2nd._ The Cuban Ambassador Martha Hernández Caneiro participated in the tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the 156th anniversary of his birth.
As every year, the tribute was organized by the Indian High Commissioner in Victoria and took place in Freedom Park, which houses the monument in memory of the hero and leader of India's struggle for independence.
In his tribute speech, Indian High Commissioner, Rohit Rathish, emphasized the significance of this celebration, which reaffirms the commitment to his principles of truth, nonviolence, and justice.
The event was attended by Seychelles government officials, members of the Indian diaspora, and the diplomatic corps.
The international community also celebrates International Day of Non-Violence on October 2, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2007 in recognition of his legacy of peaceful resistance to injustice.
