Havana, May 22, 2025: The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Hon Dr. Terrance Drew, together with the delegation accompanying him on an official visit, were received on Thursday morning, at the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba by Interim Minister, Dr. Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández, as part of the schedule of activities that they are carrying out in the Cuban capital.

Issues of common interest were addressed during the meeting, which culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Intent that strengthens the bases of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of health and promotes the well-being of both peoples.

They then moved to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Havana (CIGB); a visit marks new steps on the path of cooperation between the two nations.

In the afternoon, the commemorative ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two Caribbean countries took place at the headquarters of the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Havana, with the presence of Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, and the Deputy Minister of the Foreign Ministry of Cuba, Anyansi Rodríguez Camejo. The unveiling of a beautiful allegorical painting by Santiago artist Miguel Cosme Pérez was part of the celebration, a work described by the Prime Minister as "a powerful symbol of the path shared between both nations, a path marked by patience, purpose and mutual respect."

He further noted, "I am deeply moved by the sheer importance of this moment. Thirty years ago, our countries formalized what was already a natural alliance. But the numbers only tell part of the story. The true measure of our relationship lies in the lives and communities transformed, the bridges built, and the dreams made true through this partnership."

Anayansi Rodríguez recalled that, since May 10, 1995, when diplomatic relations were established between the two nations, our peoples and governments have woven ties that transcend the political and economic spheres. He recognized the support in international forums and in the condemnation of the unjust blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

At another time in the afternoon, as a symbol of the reinforcement to promote well-being in pursuit of Health, the Caribbean Prime Minister spoke with medical students of his Federation who are studying at the Latin American School of Medicine, in Havana.
